Deductible offers
Missouri law prohibits a contractor from advertising or promising to pay or rebate an insurance deductible to induce a sale. An allowance or discount can fall within that prohibition.

Insurance pays according to the covered cause, policy terms and loss settlement. The roofing inspection helps define the roof condition and needed work; it does not decide coverage.

The roofing work and the insurance decision answer different questions. An inspection examines the actual opening, damaged covering and layers that need repair. The insurer evaluates the reported loss under the policy, including the cause, deductible, exclusions and settlement terms.
A nearby storm report can help with an event date, but it does not establish damage at a particular property. Repair scope can also change when opening the covering reveals wet insulation or deteriorated wood. The guide below explains how those physical findings and the coverage process relate while keeping the insurer responsible for the coverage decision.

| Term | What it means for the roof decision |
|---|---|
| Deductible | The policyholder’s share of a covered loss. Wind or hail deductibles can differ from other policy deductibles. |
| Actual cash value | A settlement that accounts for depreciation under the policy, leaving a different out-of-pocket amount from replacement cost coverage. |
| Replacement cost | Coverage based on repair or replacement without depreciation, subject to policy conditions, limits and any required completed work. |
| Covered scope | The insurer’s accepted work and the roofing project scope need to be understood together. Additional roof work is not automatically covered. |

Section 407.725 provides a cancellation right tied to written notice that all or part of the claim or contract is not covered, with a fifth-business-day deadline and required written notice. Necessary emergency work has special treatment.
The same section bars a contractor from representing or negotiating for an owner on an insurance claim. A roofing scope and a policy coverage decision are different jobs.
